Central Market Single Estate Teas
Every item in the Central Market brand is selected for its quality and craftsmanship, and this line of Single Garden Estate teas was no exception. The team searched far and wide for a supplier who would deliver on a pure, high-quality product, where each tea type was sourced from only one garden. Sleek canisters and custom safety seals speak to the luxurious product inside.
For this design, I wanted to emphasize the delicate tea varieties while still offering enough differentiation between each type. A unified background color creates a strong brand-block at shelf, while unique ink paintings form a band of colors and inject some movement into the layouts. I was drawn to incorporating a handwritten element as well, as a nod to the small-batch nature of the product (and because I love to sneak some handlettering into my projects whenever possible!).
I painted each illustration on paper, using black ink to achieve a range of contrast within the shades, and then colored each one digitally. Focusing on leaf forms instead of defined florals kept the paintings from looking overly feminine, and also allowed me to reference the subtleties of each tea leaf type.
