Feliz Holiday Collection

In addition to their more “traditional” Christmas collection, the General Merchandise team offers an alternate assortment that embraces a younger, brighter holiday look. Entitled “Feliz”, their 2022 collection was all about saturated, Fiesta-inspired colors, cheerful expressions, and playful imagery. I had a ton of fun working within this style and think the collection that resulted embodies all the joy of the Christmas spirit.

Because the assets had to flex to a number of different products and substrates, I provided illustrations that were layered and multicolor, as well as simplified, single color designs. This allowed the product team to select designs according to their item’s specific needs and production restrictions (and also created stylistic variety across the collection).

Similarly to other General Merchandise collections I’ve worked on, I collaborated with another designer, Julie Ramirez, to create the artwork for the GM team (some of her wonderful designs are visible in the photo above). By working within the same palette and building our illustrations from segments of geometric shapes, we kept a cohesive feel across all assets.

For this collection in particular, I tried to take familiar holiday iconography and execute it in a way that felt fresh. Gingerbread men got outfitted in Texan garb, decorations adorn a camper trailer instead of a typical house, and Christmas trees peek from a Southwestern-inspired textile pattern.
