H-E-B Salsas
Salsa is a mainstay in the Texas diet, and the hallmark of a good salsa is one that tastes homemade and handcrafted. While H-E-B’s line (under their Organics brand) may not actually be made by hand, we wanted the labels to embrace this idea while still communicating a deeply flavorful product. Fun linework and funky typography come together to create a look that would feel at home in any Texan’s pantry.
In my original iterations of this concept, I had drawn the linework with pen, but it felt too flat and careful. I ended up carving a linocut of the shapes (intentionally keeping the wonky imperfections!), scanning the printed texture, and then recoloring each section digitally to create the final designs.
